Stephanie voluteers for the Daniel Rock n Ride at the Morocco Shrine Auditorium. Lots of fun for a great cause. Definitely something she will be a part of next year.
Jessica Dimmick’s Baby Shower. Stephanie & Stephanie gave Jess a shower to celebrate the upcoming birth of her and Derrick’s daughter named Mya. We can’t wait to meet her.
Brandon is Baptized and we become official members of Mandarin Presbyterian Church.
What a Birthday weekend for Miss Shelby Westerman and the rest of us! To kick the weekend off Colleen & Scott arrived on Friday afternoon. We ordered in Al’s Pizza, had friends over and played some games. On Saturday we slept in which everyone appreciated, then headed for brunch at Mimi’s. Next the girls split from the guys for a little bit of pampering…Pedicures Anyone? Me, Me!!! Then Shelby & Colleen hit the Town Center for shopping, shopping and more shopping. That night we all got dolled up for a night on the town. First, it was Mark’s at 9p, then Maverick’s at 1130p. We all had so much fun wishing Shelby a Happy Birthday as we danced all night and closed down the bar. Well everyone knows what is needed after a night out on the town…Taco Bell so that is exactly what we did. At 245a we were throwing back some burritos and soft tacos. Wow…it has been a while since we had all been up so late. Sunday morning we were awakened with Truffles for breakfast. The girls then headed out to run some puppy errands while the guys relocated to the Apple store where Brandon got an iPhone. He hasn’t quit playing with it since. Monday (Shelby real B-day) morning was another sleep in day accompanied by a lunch feast at Crazy Sushi and drinks at the Lemon Bar on the beach. The sun was shining and the breeze came quickly off the beach; it was a perfect day. Next we went back home to prepare for our gourmet dinner at Capital Grille. Shelby has the connections I tell you! We dined at the chef’s table and enjoyed the most amazing seafood and steaks in Jacksonville. After we stuffed ourselves we headed home for dessert. Mike surprised Shelby with an icecream cake from Marbleslab and Diane had made her a cake out of Little Debbies and Ding Dongs (too funny…great job Cho). Some pics are below and there are more to see by clicking here!
To a Wife, MOM, and Grandma who deserves all the best things in life. You have truly brought so much to my life and for that I am thankful. Brandon and I love you and miss you. Sorry we cannot share your special day with you, but we are thinking of you today. Tell the family we said hello and enjoy some of that BBQ for us too.
Fay has made her way West toward the Florida Panhandle and our friends in that area are now bracing for the tropical mess we have just been through since Wednesday. Unfortunately, they are even predicting that Fay will drop rain on my family SE Louisiana as well. For the first time since Wednesday the sun is peeking out a bit in Jax even though we can still expect rain & windy conditions throughout the weekend.
What a mess we have here in Jax and the surrounding areas. The rain and wind has not let up and there has been many reports of power outages (not us fortunately) and flooding (again, not us fortunately). Our lights did blink a bit last night and today, but we are definitely lucky to have power. I have received emails from co-workers and spoke to some as well who have been less fortunate. Many are without power and are dealing with water in their homes.
Brandon is working hard today to keep all the live stream video posted to the CBS & FOX websites he manages locally as well as posting any pictures or video sent in from folks dealing with TS Fay. For the latest updates please go to www.fox30online.com or www.cbs47.com.
I am home today with my doggie Potter who is keeping me company and cuddling on my lap. My wonderful neighbors are also home. We have been checking on each other throughout the day. Tonight may call for a game night to have some fun during this nasty weather.
Since the storm is moving so slowly we are all ready for it to go away. We want the sunshine back!
We will update you tonight on the current conditions and hopefully they will have improved. Thanks again to those of you who keep checking in with us.
Well, we’re finally feeling the force of Tropical Storm Fay, something we were able to avoid on Wednesday and for most of Thursday. It was kind enough to slowly make its way up the entire state of Florida, then stop just before the bad outer bands hit Jacksonville. After a several hour long spin cycle off the coast, Fay finally started moving west toward the panhandle, and that means its coming right over us now.
Thankfully it never made to hurricane force, so we’re only getting a good amount of rain and lots of wind gusts, but thats about it. Parts of Jacksonville have already flooded, but we live in a high part of Jax, so hopefully we’ll avoid that in our neighborhood.
It was interesting to see the reactions from Steph and my employers. Stephanie was allowed Wednesday off for safety’s sake, and will be off again on Friday. Since I’m in the news biz, I was put on high alert, coming in earlier and leaving later than usual. I’m glad I haven’t had to go in during the wee hours of the night like some of my news buddies, but I have been working a little harder getting extra Fay content on our websites www.cbs47.com and www.fox30online.com, and live streaming our news broadcasts as Fay made it’s way closer to our area.
So now, we’ll sit tight until Fay completes its tour of the entire state of Florida, and thank our lucky stars that the first major storm to hit us this season wasn’t actually all that bad for us. And we’ll hope that whatever that is brewing out in the Atlantic right now will peter out before it has a chance to get it’s act together.
Thanks to all of our friends and family who have called to check on us! We’re doing great and our hurricane kit is ready. Hopefully our new flashlights will last longer than a week this time!
We are in prepare mode as TS Fay makes its way up the East Coast of Florida. Currently, the storm has weakened and it doesn’t appear it will become a Cat 1 as recent hurricane models had indicated. However, it has stalled out over open water in the Atlantic Ocean and only moving at 3mph. There is tremendous uncertainty at this point what path the TS will take so we are preparing either way. Most companies and schools have closed except for Brandon’s. He is unhappy about that, but when you work for a TV News station this comes with the territory. Luckily, we have been great friends with our neighbors that I can ride out the storm with if needed. The thumbnail above is a current picture of Fay.
Yes, my husband decided to join a Beer Pong league with our neighbor Derrick! The guys were excited as we arrived to the first night of the league…let the games begin! See more here!
It was the first pre-season game for the Jaguars in Jacksonville against the Atlanta Falcons and we had to be there to cheer our home team on! Go JAGUARS!!! We met up with friends at a tailgate before the game, then we headed into the stadium for the start of the new season. What fun…see more photos here!
